West Canaries Tourism Guide - Barlovento
Pretty Barlovento to the north east of La Palma is a centre for farming, and a stunning rural La Palma base. Barlovento is an excellent base for easy access into both the Caldera de Taburiente, and down to Santa Cruz de la Palma. If you're planning a walking holiday on La Palma, consider Barlovento as a good rural base.

Just outside of Barlovento to the east are the delightful natural salwater pools set amidst volcanic rocks - just follow the road marked Piscinas de la Fajana off the LP 1 mainroad. There's some good snorkelling down here, plus some lovely fish restaurants (checkout La Gaviota, Tel. 922 18 60 99 a pretty restaurant alongside the beach set within a cave!) .
Various arts and crafts centres are also in the area, plus for touring by car particularly Barlovento offers easy acces onto the stunningly beautiful rural highway LP 111, and across to towards the west to the magical Parque Cultural La Zarza, one of the main centres for prehistoric decorated caves and rock carvings on La Palma.
