Los Llanos De Aridane to the central west side of La Palma is the island's second largest town. It's quite a spread out town, very Canarian with mostly a local and bustling La Palma population and little attention is paid here to tourism. Los Llanos is a centre for commerce on the island, and the farming of bananas and avocado is big news in the area. It's the perfect base for the more independent traveller (bit of Spanish here most certainly will help!), ideal for walkers with easy access to the west coast and inland to the Caldera.
Los Llanos De Aridane Tourist Information Office, Avenida Dr Felming, Los Llanos, La Palma. Tel: 922 40 18 99. Open Mondays to Fridays 8am to 3pm. In the Summer it's 8am to 2pm.
Within Los Llanos itself there's a pretty plaza - Plaza Espana at the centre. Here you'll find the Igelsia de Nuestra Senora de los Remedios. The architectural style of this church is Canarian colonial.
Bike'n' Fun, Calle Calvo Sotelo, Los Llanos Tel. 922 40 19 27, open 10am to 1pm and 6pm to 8pm Mondays to Fridays offer bike hire and a selection of bike ride tours.
