Low key and family oriented, Caleta de Fuste is perfect for quiet and slightly upmarket family holidays. The beach is nicely sheltered, there is a picture postcard swimming complex (Barcelo Club El Castillo complex) next to the El Castillo Fort on the coast, and there's ample opportunity to book yourself on diving courses popular in this area. Plenty of choice of catamaran sailing trips and boat trips available from Caleta de Fuste's little harbour front too, opposite El Castillo.
No high rise here, just a pleasantly laid out low rise selection of apartments and 4 star hotels pushing up towards the luxury end. Pretty cafes, bars and restaurants abound and the fortress castle on the front near a small harbour area gives Caleta de Fuste some real character. A good base too with all amenities, if you're planning to branch out in your hire car.
A tad of a manmade feel about it perhaps, but for pretty and low key family holiday resort locations on the Canaries Caleta de Fuste is up there with the good ones! The manmade beach at Caleta de Fuste is large and perfectly pleasant, with further plans for improvements to follow in the near future. It's safe and sheltered for family bathing! (good news for families visiting Fuerteventura, the windy island where many of the beaches are top kitesurfing, surfing and windsurfing hotspots with strong currents and big waves!) Hard to believe it was once solid rock along this stretch of coast. Accommodation is all low build, so this Fuerteventura resort isn't overbearing. There's some luxury new hotels here too, and the relatively new Atlantico Commercial centre.
You're only 8 minutes from Fuerteventura Airport at this resort, so transfer times are short (always good news for families with young children). Golf fans will be happy too, there's a superb 18 hole golf course here already, with another recent second golf course. Golf courses are connected to hotels in Caleta de Fuste - namely the Sheraton and the Costa Caleta Hotel.
If you're getting a little confused by the various names of Fuerteventura - don't panic it's not you. New names keep appearing for resorts - in this case Caleta de Fuste is increasingly becoming known as Costa Caleta! Ditto down in Jandia, with Playas this and that! Someone in tourism must be bored and losing the plot! Whether Costa Caleta or Caleta de Fuste, it's the perfect spot for a family beach holiday on Fuerteventura! The perpetual re-naming of resorts on Fuerteventura is largely due to new resort developments springing up near already established resorts.
