Fuerteventura's El Matorral Airport is situated just 6km to the south of the capital Puerto del Rosario (see weblink right for Airport website). Quieter and currently more laid back than the big players Tenerife and Gran Canaria (at the moment anyway), Fuerteventura sees less charter flights departing from the UK in comparison. On the busier side, interconnecting flights via Binter Canarias offers around 23 flights daily to Gran Canaria and around 5 flights daily to Tenerife North. For cheap flights to Fuerteventura contact the Iknow-Holidays Booking Line direct, or click on the cheap flights Fuerteventura link to the right for online flight bookings.
Ferry services from Corralejo in the north of Fuerteventura to Playa Blanca in South Lanzarote are getting quicker - currently in 2006 they're timed at 12 minutes for the crossing. See below for ferry details and times. Contact Iknow-Holidays on 0871 423 5056 for further details, or see the aferry.to weblink right for online ferry bookings from Fuerteventura. For trips to Lanzarote ferry is best, and quicker from Corralejo to Playa Blanca than flying. Ferries to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are also set to get quicker when the new harbour at the very southern tip of Fuerteventura is completed.
One of the best of all the Canary Islands, Fuerteventura Airport is clean, efficient and a pleasure to pass through! It's small compared to Tenerife North and Gran Canaria - you'd expect this as the population on Fuerteventura is a lot less. It's smaller size makes it less intimidating, with car rental pick-up directly adjacent to the terminal, and inside a choice of tasteful shopping and excellent coffee in the cafes.
Top marks for stress free travel goes to Fuerteventura Airport. The airport is conveniently situated just south of Puerto del Rosario, making travel time north to Corralejo and south to Caleta de Fuste and Morro Jable not too long.
Over 20 flights run daily from Fuerteventura to Gran Canaria Airport, offered by the excellent airline Binter Canarias. The only other Canaries Island served is Tenerife, and approximately 5 flights run daily from Fuerteventura to Tenerife North Airport. Connecting to Lanzarote (so close to Fuerteventura) is best done by ferry (see below for details).
Charter flights from Ireland to Fuerteventura run from Belfast International Airport, and less frequently from Cork. Phone Iknow-holidays Ltd on 0871 423 5056 for information on airlines and airports offering charter and schedules flights to Fuerteventura.
Two express ferries run 7 trips daily from Fuerteventura to Lanzarote, and 7 ferry trips daily the other way - so you've plenty of choice. The ferries departing from Puerto del Rosario/Fuerteventura to Arrecife/Lanzarote are slower than the Corralejo/Playa Blanca route. Also, 5 ferries depart weekly from the capital Puerto del Rosario to Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, but again your faster route to Las Palmas is via the Morro Jable (south in Jandia/Fuerteventura) jetfoil route. Building work is currently afoot on developing a harbour even further south at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, so times will soon be even quicker between Fuerteventura and Las Palmas, Gran Canaria!
