Fuerteventura Tourism Guide - Fuerteventura Tours & Excursions

Fuerteventura tours, excursions and day trips are numerous, and include superb grand tours of not just Fuerteventura, but also of Lanzarote via the quick express boat trip from Corralejo to Playa Blanca (12 minutes). The selection of tours and excursions on Fuerteventura takes in the stunning interior and cultural centre which offers an ecomuseum and a choice of beautiful historic centres such as Betancuria, Pajara and La Oliva, whilst other tours are more family oriented with day trips to the Baku Waterpark in Corralejo or Oasis Park Animal Park and Camel Safari near Costa Calma.

Sport and leisure trips abound including great catamaran sailing trips down along the Jandia Peninsula, or north around Corralejo and Los Lobos Island. If you don't fancy diving, why not book yourself on a sub-cat submarine for a look at Fuerteventura's magical underwater world (great day for families this one). Murder Mystery Monday evening excursions are also available. For information on all the Fuerteventura tours and day trips listed below contact the Iknow-holidays Ltd Booking line direct.

Oasis Park - Animal Park, Camel Safaria & Parrot Shows

Oasis Park is a very popular family attraction on Fuerteventura, and perfect for a family holiday excursion day trip. Situated in La Lajita near Costa Calma, here at Oasis Park are all the ingredients for a fun family day out, including a huge tropical garden, 100s of different tropical birds and there's an African Savannah section in this park with numerous exotic African animals. The botanical gardens here contain an enormous selection of cactus. On-site are a selection of shops and shows include sea lions shows, parrot shows, and reptile shows which all run daily. The highlight of the park is the Camel Safari which takes groups, a-top of camels upto the La Lajita Valley.

Fuerteventura Grand Tour

The Fuerteventura Grand Tour by coach (usually Tuesdays) explores this stunning Canaries Island in one day, taking in the old capital of Fuerteventura - Betancuria and the pretty village of Pajara, amongst other cultural sights and scenes.

Grand Tours are accompanied by knowledgeable guides, giving you a commentary throughout the day on the history of Fuerteventura. Lunch is included. If you haven't got a car hire on Fuerteventura, but still want to really explore the island, a grand tour is the perfect way to do it.

Lanzarote Grand Tour from Fuerteventura

Grand Tours of Lanzarote usually take place on Fridays. Coaches pick you up directly from your resort hotel or pick-up point and whisk you up to Corralejo to hop on the swift boat across to Playa Blanca on Lanzarote (only takes 12 minutes).

The tour of the fascinating volcanic and cultural terrain of Lanzarote then begins, taking in the volcano route at the Timanfaya National Park, plus numerous Cesar Manrique cultural centres including the sublime Jameos del Agua (check out the Lanzarote Excursions section elsewhere on this website for more details on the Grand Tour Lanzarote).

Fuerteventura Day Trip Tours and Murder Mystery.

Families can easily book themselves on a superb fun day out at the Baku Waterpark in Corralejo. This waterpark has a great collection of fun slides, wave pools, play areas and there's also golf, bowling, and ample cafes and restaurants on-site. (usually Fridays)

Another great excursion for families is the Submarine-Subcat trip which leaves from Morro Jable harbour (usually Tuesdays and Saturdays), taking you down into the underwater world off the Jandia Peninsula. The Submarine-Subcat is '..like a whale showing his majestic salto' apparently! Kids love these submarine trips, and for those who can't or don't fancy diving it's an excellent opportunity to view the underwater world in these clear waters around Jandia, Fuerteventura. (checkout the Submarine-Subcat's submerged tour website to the right for more details and amusing descriptions).

How about a Murder Mystery evening on Fuerteventura! (Usually Monday evenings, with meal included). Enjoy a fabulous night of mystery, intrigue and high drama (and plenty of comedy too!). The Murder Mystery revolves around the wedding of Tony Tortellini, the son of North America's most powerful and influential Mafia Don. Assist the Detective to unravel the clues leading to the discovery of the murderer, or just sit back and enjoy the entertaining show (with some superb actors!) Inclusive in the Murder Mystery evening is a delicious three course meal with plenty of wine. Coach transfers to the venue are provided.

Magic Cat Catamaran Sailing Trip Jandia Peninsula

Across the Canary Islands, a Catamaran Sailing trip along the Jandia Peninsula is one of the best catamaran trips available. See the stunning Jandia mountains from the sea (one of the best ways to see them!), swim in the crystal clear waters off Jandia and enjoy a sumptuous lunch with free flowing wine and beer. Jet ski rides and waterfun rides are usually available too.

Magic Catamaran sailing trips are highly recommended, with really friendly and professional staff. You can get active and try your hand at a spot of snorkelling or a jet ski ride, or simply lie back on the Catamaran deck and enjoy the ride. (see photos to the left to give you an idea of the day). Magic Catamaran departs from Morro Jable harbour, and takes you on a leisurely sail along the Jandia Peninsula coastline. Staff are multi-lingual - catering for both English and German speaking holidaymakers. A great day out on the water for all the family!

Two Magic Catamaran sailing trips set off daily, one in the morning around 10-10.30am and another at around 3.30pm to 4pm (usually May to October only for the afternoon one).

The American Star Shipwreck, Fuerteventura

During your stay in Fuerteventura you might get wind of the rather unusual shipwreck - The American Star - which came a cropper off the west coast of Fuerteventura below Ajuy. A four wheel drive car hire on Fuerteventura is highly recommended if you're planning to see the wreck as it's situated at the end of a dirt track, albeit a good dirt track! (Better be quick though, as many believe it will soon disappear under the sea).

Once a luxury liner, the American Star wreck looks pretty forlorn now, To see it, travelling from Ajuy take the road back to the junction, at the end turn right then after about 1.8km turn off onto a dirt track following the sign marked 'Zona Prohibida Pesca Submarina'. The track reaches the beach after about 2.7km. Then follow the track to the left driving past the La Solara stone, then along the coast to the wreck which you can't miss. Admittedly it's a site worth seeing!
