Arrecife Guacimeta Lanzarote Airport

Compact, friendly and rather chic, Arrecife Airport stands out amongst the Canary Islands airports as being a bit more interesting, and you've guessed why - it's Cesar Manrique of course. As you approach the airport you'll see another of his interesting wind sculptures, also present on a number of roundabouts not just on Lanzarote but elsewhere in the Canaries. If you're Canary Island hopping and departing by Binter Airways from Terminal two (there are two terminal buildings at Lanzarote Airport, although most visitors coming from the UK will only encounter terminal 1) take time to glance at the Cesar Manrique wall mural in the Terminal two building. There are signs pointing you to it. Manrique did this mural quite late in his career in 1980.

On arrival baggage reclaim is a rather informal affair, and again you'll be greeted on the walls by some of Manrique's work, plus the design logo for Lanzarote by Manrique. Lanzarote Airport car hire desks are just adjacent to baggage reclaim. It's a nice, clean airport, and well placed for easy and quick access to the main resorts of Costa Teguise to the North, and Puerto del Carman and Playa Blanca to the south.

Cheap Flights - Airlines Serving Lanzarote

Lanzarote Airport is served by a wide selection of airlines running from the UK mainland direct including First Choice airways, My Travel, Monarch, Thomas Cook, Thomson Fly and for interconnect between the Canary Islands - Binter. No problem then for a selection of cheap charter flight deals available to Lanzarote throughout the year. Book direct for the best cheap flight deals through Openjet.com linked right or call the booking line on 0871 423-5056.

Lanzarote's average annual temperature is 22 degrees centigrade. It's the nearest Canary Island to the African mainland and has the least rainfall of all the islands. Eternal Spring and Summer reigns here, making all year round sun rich beach holidays a reality for British Holidaymakers. Expect cheap flight deals to Lanzarote all year round, witht last minute and special offer deals often available.

Lanzarote Resorts Access from Airport

Lanzarote's Airport is conveniently situated on the east coast, along with the major resorts. Cost Teguise is the closest Lanzarote resort to the airport, a short 30 minute drive north of the airport approximately. This resort offers a superb selection of sheltered beaches, excellent windsurfing and watersports opportunities and ample restaurants, bars and a family oriented feel.

Moving South, Puerto del Carmen is about the same distance south of the airport as Costa Teguise is north. If you're staying in either Playa Blanca or at surfing hotspot Famara the drive from the airport won't be much over an hour. Lanzarote is just 21km (13miles) wide and 60km (37 miles) long, and it's the lowest lying and least mountainous of all the Canary Islands (hence it's low rainfall), so getting to and from the airport from any destination on the island is quick and easy.

Canaries Island Hopping from Lanzarote, Lanzarote Ferry

Regular short flights depart from Lanzarote Airport, offered by Binter Canarias Airlines, to Tenerife North and Gran Canaria, with less frequent flights connecting to Tenerife South and La Palma Airports. Most visitors connect with Fuerteventura via a quick boat trip on the Fred Olsen Express from Playa Blanca to Corralejo on the northern tip of Fuerteventura. It's a very short boat trip this, under 15 minutes, making a day trip to Fuerteventura and the stunning white sandy beaches of Corralejo within easy reach from Lanzarote.

Itinerary wise, if you're wanting to split your holiday in the Canary Islands, why not take a week in Lanzarote, staying in Playa Blanca and hopping over to Fuerteventura to enjoy the stunning beaches their for the second week. Alternatively stay in Costa Teguise near the Airport on Lanzarote and hop over to either Gran Canaria or Tenerife for the second week. Spliting your holiday in the Canary Island to sample the variety of holiday options these stunning volcanic islands offer is a lot easier than you think. Local Canary Island residents have been island hopping for years, and many today opt for Binter and fly between the islands - well worth considering island hopping by flying!
