With a purpose built resort feel again, Matagorda is a quiet and cosy Lanzarote resort connected to Los Pocillos by a promenade. Excellent as a relaxing base, yet just a 5 minute hop to Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote's big bustling resort, it's a good quiet base option and again popular with British visitors to Lanzarote.
Matagorda's accommodation is modern and new. There is one commercial centre within the resort offering a choice of bars, shops and restaurants. Like Los Pocillos, Matagorda is a suburb of Puerto del Carmen and is situated just 3 miles from Lanzarote Airport and 8 miles south of Arrecife, Lanzarote's capital.
Visitors to Lanzarote looking for a quiet base, with a nice sandy beach, modern and new accommodation, ample shops, restaurants and bars around one good sized commercial centre, and easy access to nearby Puerto del Carmen will be more than happy with Matagorda.
The little suburb resorts of Los Pocillos and Matagorda are currently undergoing some development, so check about building work in the area near to your accommodation. The building work, however, is relatively low key so shouldn't be a problem.
Matagorda is a good choice for holidaymakers wanting a quiet beach holiday base with all amenities close to hand.
