Are you ready to be pampered? Less known Lanzarote south location - Puerto Calero - is a bit of a well kept secret. This Lanzarote hotspot has one of the most impressive little harbours across the Canaries, and probably Europe. Chic, stylish and with an eye to luxury, Puerto Calero is a focus for leisure, ranging from luxury spa accommodation to yacht trips from the marina to specilist shopping and fine dining.
Puerto Calero harbour is the central focus, and fast developing (check the weblink right for details). Here you can visit the informative Whales and Dolphins museum, then book yourself on a whales and dolphins spotting trip.
Chillin' out in Puerto Calero Marina is certainly a pleasureable way to spend the time. Chic cafes, a beautiful marina harbour full of small pleasure craft and yachts, a Whales and Dolphins museum, an up and coming art gallery, numerous chic shops, beauty shops, excursion outlets (particularly for activities on the water, and a number of chic restaurants and bars, plus a pleasant strolling promenade. Puerto Calero is indeed on the up and up, with an emphasis on luxury!
Yacht charter is easy from Puerto Calero. In fact, if you're a lover of sailing then Puerto Calero is the base for you. Fishing trips are pretty prevalent here too, and easily available from the Marina! A selection of Catamarans, including Catalanza moor up here at Puerto Calero Marina, so if you're based here you can hook into one of their superb trips!

Another lesser known, and excellent museum ideal for family holiday trips in Lanzarote, is the Museo de Cataceos de Canarias, or Wales and Dolphins Museum located in Puerto Calero's attractive marina space. It's certainly an appropriate museum for the Canary Islands, as dolphins and whales abound in the surrounding Atlantic waters.
Outside the museum is a giant skeleton of what appears to be a whale - giving you an idea of what to expect inside. The museum explores the evolution of whales and dolphins in detail through life sized reproduction models, skeleton collections, fils of Canarian waters, sounds and interactive displays, photographs and biological samples.
