If you're looking for a rather swish location which is essentially a suburb of Puerto de la Cruz look no further than Los Realejos in Tenerife North. On a clear day some of the best views of Mount Teide can be seen from these Tenerife North locations around Puerto de la Cruz! So if you literally fancy being based in the shadow of Teide then choose one of these north Tenerife locations! There's some pretty luxurious hotel accommodation here in this newer outcrop of tourist development. Los Realejos is a good base for walking holidays on Tenerife, with easy access down into the Teide National Park and the Orotava Valley. There's a pretty black sandy beach here too, but watch the waves and currents here - it's not a beach suitable for children when the wind is up and the sea is rough!

The TF5 motorway which runs along the north coast of Tenerife makes moving between Santa Cruz, Puerto de la Cruz and La Laguna easy as pie (watch out for busy rush hour times though - early around 7am and in the evening from about 6pm to 7pm. The traffic tends to get heavy on motorways and in urban centres with people getting to work!
